April, 7 years old was informed by her form teacher that there would be a drawing contest on the second day after the school reopened. The title is My favourite toys
During the school break, I informed her Art teacher whom I engaged outside the school, on the title of the drawing. Her Art teacher prepared a few designs and let her choose. She chose the below one. Her Art teacher wanted her to choose the other one, but she insisted on this one.
After one complete cycle of drawing and colouring at her Art teacher's place, she did a few more rounds of practices at home. This was one of her practices at home.
Yesterday, she told me that she was the first runner up. Today, when I sent her to school, I went to take a look at her drawing, as well as other winners' drawings.
Apparently, the champion's drawing was the one that her Art teacher wanted her to do, but she refused. (p/s: The champion and April were engaged with the same Art teacher.)
This champion drawing had the best illustration of My favourite toys, I reckon.
They are only primary 1 students.

Is it drawing and colouring competition? Gosh..now kids have to colour like that? So nice!! I should have sent my girl for art class last time..now she doesnt like drawing at all..
ReplyDeleteWah, nice drawings. Next round April would be champion!
ReplyDeletePS : Regarding your question on tomato spaghetti sauce.
You can refer to my vegetarian blog post, http://veganformation.blogspot.com/2009/06/vegetarian-angel-hair-spaghetti-recipe.html
Just replace bean curd strips with minced beef or chicken.
All the contestants had done a very good job. Well drawn and coloured. I do not know how the judges pick their favourite, but I certainly know that all of them deserve a big pat on their back. They are all winners! Like you mentioned, they are only in Primary One.
ReplyDeleteWow, the drawings are so beautiful. The kids are very talented! Good job to April :)
ReplyDeletesorry i meant to say "Good Job April" :)
ReplyDeleteThey have very good colour shading skills. April's art is very good..to me hard to find a champion, they are all similar good.
ReplyDeleteAnother round of 'way to go' April!! Congratulation on her winning!
ReplyDeleteI reckon the champion's drawing is more vibrant, very colourful and catchy, I love April's shading but since the theme is rather cheerful, it's vital she chose more choices of vibrant colours!;D(my 2 cents)
All the drawings are so nice, considering for a Primary One student. Some of them really have the talent =)
ReplyDeleteHi, I am back to comment. Looking at April's artwork, I sometimes regret not letting Ian continue with his Art classes but he has only this much of time everyday to carry out his already packed daily activities. :(
ReplyDeleteI think April's artwork is better than champion's. She's very artistic. Keep encouraging her.
ReplyDeleteApril is so talented! Congrats on her winning. Seriously, I don't think I can colour as well as her, with the shading and all. I'm lousy in art :(
ReplyDeletethat's unbelievably standard 1 student's work!! OMG, they look so professional even i, at this age, am not able to produce such work.. i still remember at age 7, we used to draw matchman only, haha~~ :D
ReplyDeleteJust primary 1, can do this far? Well Done....Not bad for April too! Maybe that drawing was April fav toys and also the one she like the most.
ReplyDeleteWOw!! 7 years old kids.... really amazing! Haha... if so, I think my boy won't be able to get any prizes from this contest. :P
ReplyDeleteApril can color so nice. bravo to u.
ReplyDeletewow she is talented! Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteGeng betul lah.... i like her persistence in wanting that piece of art, others would have been swayed by someone's opinions already?
ReplyDeletegood good, and happy for her
Ditto Eugene. That shows self confidence at a young age, better than any drawing could be. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sheoh Yan, very nice....I'm sure she'll win next time round.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours. And can see she has very steady hands too.
Have a nice day.
Lee.
Amazing what 7 year olds can do this days!!!! wonderful art work there.. bravo!
ReplyDeleteHi Aunty Yan! Everytime I see April's drawings, a piece of my childhood memories always comes up inside my mind. I remember that, when I was at April's age, I really did envy a kid like April, who had this kind of drawing/coloring talent because my ability in this area was totally bad. So during my primary years, I learned really really hard by myself to achieve that 'talent' and fortunate enough for me, it seems the way I draw is way better now ^^ I believe, April will be a great artist if she keep practicing and congratulation for being a first runner-up! Shud be proud for that okay ;D
ReplyDelete7yo can do so well, amaze!! Congrates to April. I like the way she did her color shading.
ReplyDeletewow....fantastic...April's artwork is so so good especially the colouring part.
ReplyDeleteApril, congratulations to you and keep it up.
Being the first runner-up is not easy and Yan, I believed you must be very proud of her.
I'm sure she will be the next champion.
I'm always impressed with April's colouring and drawings. Congrats to April for emerging as the 1st runner up. She is really talented. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's very nice!! Good job to April. I am thinking of sending my girls for art class too, after seeing the difference in those who attend art class.
ReplyDeletewao...her drawing is very nice and cool~
ReplyDeleteIt is better to let your child come up with her own ideas. She should draw her own toys instead.
