Weekends, I always pester my husband to go to Pokok Assam. There is a bungalow house at the corner lot before turning into Pokok Assam market.
The owner make use of the compound of the bungalow to sell food. I love the food there very much.
What make me patronize this place on our lovey weekends? Let see the below pictures for the answer.
Assam Laksa.
Braised Chicken Feet.
Tauhu Sumbat.
Deep fried prawn fritter.
Ais kacang
Popiah
Curry noodle.
Wantan noodle.
Red bean and black glutinous rice dessert. I "tapao" this back home. Add in some ice cubes and eat it while watching TV. So enjoyable. That's my most beautiful weekend.
I tell ya! All the food taste really yummy and nice.

DeleteHi Sheoh Yan, HOLY SMOKE! You sure triggered an old memory to me. Yes, I have been here wayyyy back in the '70s, last was in early '80s, had lunch there with an old friend.
ReplyDeleteI love Taiping old days, the lake gardens, then Port Weld too, as well would take the side road from there to Sitiawan, Pantai Remis, then Telok Anson...on to KL. By coast road.
I sure love the dishes you posted here. Pop pia Taiping was very well loved old days, and I never failed to stop there enroute to Penang or KL.
You were still in standard 6 then, ha ha.

Man or man, I missed all these foods too( I mean the betul betul sedap one)cos I don't know why, can't really get good foods now, may be the stalls are mostly manned by "wai lau" too much and they just don't care about the taste and the quality, don't you think?
