Monster High Doll Assortment - Draculaura (Review)

As I mentioned here, I am going to write reviews of two Monster High Dolls Assortment of  Draculaura this week and Abbey Bominable next week. There is also a giveaway on the week after these 2 reviews. Please stay tuned.

Between my two girls, I can see that my 8 years old, April is more taken with the Monster High dolls than my 6 years old, May. Perhaps May is still too small and too clumsy to make the doll hold the umbrella, carry the pet and read her diary. So, I think Monster High dolls can be a great collection for kids 8 years old and above.

Age	1,599 (I can't wait for my 1600 birthday )
Killer Style	My dad calls me Draculaura but to my friends I'm Ula D. I love to splash my black outfits with some cheery pink and I even carry a frilly umbrella so I can take an occasional walk in the sun.
Freaky Flaw	Since I can't see my reflection in a mirror, I have to leave the house not knowing if my clothes and makeup are just right. Of course after 1,599 years of practice I've gotten pretty good at it.
Pet	Count Fabulous is my BFF (Bat Friend Forever), he’s a very proud and proper bat but I just can't help but dressing him in the cutest little outfits.
Favorite Activity	I love smiling, laughing, and encouraging my friends.
Biggest Pet Peeve	The lack of vegan selections in the Monster High™ creepateria is so sad.
Fav School Subject	Creative Writing. It gives me a chance to write sweet stories about my friends.
Least Fav Subject	Geography. After 1,599 years I’ve been everywhere...twice.
Favorite Color	Pink
Favorite Food	I'm a vegan, no icky blood for me, so it's fruits, vegetables and a lot of iron supplements.

Holiday reading

After the examination, other than playing with their Monster High dolls and doing crafts, reading books has been parked in my two girls' things-to-do list.

These books above were all bought by my brother in one Chinese book fair on August from KL. There are 开心婆婆, 中囯成语，羽王之路 ，one Malay Moral Story book  and one English Moral Story book. I passed them these book early last week, and they have finished all of them before the weekend. My girls especially like 羽王之路, it comes in 2 comics, and it tells about Dato Lee Chong Wei's story.

These are mostly Odonata (红蜻蜓)books that I bought online and their cousin gave them some. They have yet to complete these books. Most of them are young adult novels, which only April can comprehend. May love reading Odonata comics only. I hope these books can last them till December, before the school reopens in January.

Since they have got many new books, due to space constraint, we had to give away some old books that they have outgrown. We kept only those they are still browsing. These were some of their remaining old books.

My two girls have outgrown big prints, colourful pictures and hard covered Disney Princesses and Disney Characters story books long time ago. I still keep them, because they are still in good condition. I will give them away when I run out of space again.

This time the girls received 2 Monster High fashion dolls at the same time.

I was delighted that they have come to a compromise which doll to play with in the video as part of my reviews. 

Please meet Draculaura, daughter of Dracula. The doll comes with a black and pink umbrella with a grey skull on top and a black bat at the handle, a Count Fabulous figurine, a real-life sized pink brush, a pink doll stand and a diary.

Draculaura wears a pink vest with two white buttons over a dark shirt with fishnet sleeves ending in white frills. Her white jabot collar is adorned with a pink flower jewel. Below waist level, Draculaura dresses in a short, white, frilly skirt with black lace underneath. She sports black fishnet tights matching her shirt, which at knee height becomes covered by her pink boots. Her boots are marked at the top with grey hearts, feauture black shoelaces and at the bottom are wind up in black ribbons. Her soles and heels are grey again. Draculaura accessorizes with white safety pin earrings. Her hair is in two pigtails.

Please meet Abbey Bominable, daughter of the Yeti. The doll comes with a Shiver figurine, a real-life sized blue brush, a blue doll stand and a diary.

Abbey wears a dress with pink, purple, black and light blue patterns, meant to look like ice reflecting through light, tied around with a string that connects to a black purse at her side, and sparkly stockings that fade from bright pink to blue. The dress has white fur trimmings across the top, with a similiar design along the arm, and legwarmers over platform high hiking boots. Her hair is pulled back by a furry headband, and she accessorizes with mismatched earrings shaped like a purple snowflake and an icicle, complete with her signature ice crystal necklace.

9 days vegan

Today is my 9th day of being a vegan. Surprisingly, I didn't miss any of my non vegetarian food in these 9 days. This was actually my 4th years of having vegetarian in conjunction of the 9th Emperor God's birthday. The first 3 years, I was a vegan on only the last three days, meaning, day 7, day 8 and day 9 in Chinese Lunar 9th month. This year, I take the challenge of being a vegan for 9 days. Perhaps, next year I should go for 10 days vegan.

Luckily there is a vegetarian stall located on the route between my house and my office. So, it is so convenient for me to eat or take away my breakfast, my lunch and my dinner there, and the food there is very nice. The following  pictures tell you what I ate in the past 8 days and also today.

On Sunday, I cooked myself and my girls the vegetarian porridge. In fact, I am the only person following vegan diet in my family.

I used pumpkin, potatoes, peanuts, carrot, and corn. I shredded carrot, potatoes and pumpkin before boiling it together with rice.

I believe not many people would take this type of porridge. Apparently my girls like it and we can take this for lunch and dinner without any complain too.

DIY Crafts

We expect to have more relaxing days after the exam was over, albeit they still brought back homework and their tuition is still on. Meaning, they still have Ting Xie, Ejaan and Spelling every week. There were 3 weeks to go before the long school break is here, and that time they can totally have a break from tuition and homework.

We managed to catch up with some simple craft on the evening April came back from her last day of exams.

In fact, I was so lazy to do my own designing and cutting. I just bought them a few ready packed crafts from MR. DIY.  The price of these ready packed crafts ranges from only RM1.90 to RM2.50. Cheap and nice right?

April and May were so anxious to get all crafts done in that evening. They both have done with the sticking of tiaras, and then they proceeded to do the sewing of handbags.

DIY tiara is easier to do than DIY handbag. They just needed to glue different shapes in different colours to decorate the tiara. Whereas DIY handbags required some simple sewing skill. I helped them with the sewing of the handle to the bag.

On the next day, they pestered me to buy more ready packed crafts from MR.DIY.  This time they made a moo moo photo frame, a rabbit pencil holder and a frog pencil holder.

 

I find these crafts are rather useful, cute and lovely. It is good to be made by kids, and present to teachers on Teacher's Day. April and May have decided to give the pencil holder and photo frame to their ex-nannies.

Taking the same school bus

I must pen this conversation in my blog before it fades in my memory. 

Last Sunday, my husband and I were on the way to my brother’s new house.   

Husband, “Oh! This was the place you stayed last time. “   

Wife, “How did you know? I didn’t remember I’ve seen you that time.” (In my memory, I only knew him when we were in secondary school and we started much much later.)

Apparently my brother bought a house near to the place my family lived when we were still in our childhood.

Husband, “We were in the same school bus, the driver was Loh XX, and plate number XXXX. “

Wife, “Was I in secondary school then? “

Husband, “You were in primary school. That time I've already seen you.” (Husband is the same age as me)

Wife, “How come I couldn’t remember it?” (Referring to the fact we were taking the same school bus to our primary school.)

Husband, “Haiz! …you of course cannot remember…”

Wife felt like in cloud 9 as she was thinking "Had he started eyeing on me when I was only in primary school???" ♥♥♥

It wasn't on my birthday

I have been procrastinating starting this post. Before everyone stop sending me gifts, I must do this today, as very soon Santa is coming to town.

I got these books mark and paper clips from Angeline's giveaway contest. I have now transferred the ownership to my two girls. They need it more.

On Malaysia day, lina met me and Yvonne after her run in Taiping International Marathon . She brought us two goodies bags (one was from Kathy). Those edible one already finished, and I kept those usable one.

This was the prize that I won from SK, in Comment Chart of August. I always love keeping his DIY cards which has his appreciation note attached together. My lil May likes the red color purse, I gave it to her already. She is now keeping all her pocket money in it.

A very nice friend whom I know through blogging for more than 5 years, Barb sent me a surprise gift. I will sure put these 2 Hello Kitty paper bags into good use.

These were the gifts that I received from Wenn for being the top 4 regular commenters. Just nice to pass each to my girls.

Again, I am the number 3 top commenters in the chart of September of [SK0617].  He printed a card with many pictures of my most beloved and also my famous quotes . I have now stuck on my fridge door. My white knight was surprised to see his pictures on the card.

I am so glad to make so many friends through blogging. Because of you, blogging has become so meaningful and rewarding.

My two girls are quite taken with the doll. It is now placed on top of their piano, they love changing its hands and legs posture every day.

April's first fairy tale

Today, April's exam is finally over, May's exam was over 2 days ago. They are allowed to watch TV, play games, read books, create crafts and do whatever they love from this evening onwards, because I have banned them from doing all these a month ago. I am so kiasu, I reckon.

My 8 years old, April enjoys drawing at her leisure. These 3 drawings were her latest masterpieces. I find it so cute, as she even wrote some scripts at each drawing.

Thus, this has become her first fairy tale.

I have finally found them a teacher, whom is going to teach them singing. The singing lesson starts next week, but I have yet to call their swimming coach.

Next two weeks, I have to be their makeup artist again, they both will take part in the year end concert at school.

 

Cotton On loots in October

I have actually blogged about my loots on Cotton On in September month. At first I thought that I would just stop at those few orders and call it off.

However, I browsed its website like having my daily fixes through out  the day. Thanks to those who shared their loots in their FB walls and blogs. You know who you are. Whenever I decided to stop buying, they put up pictures of their loots. tsk.tsk.

My damages were RM462 in October and bikinis tops and bottoms. It is really a steal to get it at only RM6 per piece. These bikinis are the main motivator for me to shed more belly fat in the gym.  Overall, I am happy and satisfied with all my purchases. Shall see what Cotton On loots that I bought in October.

Luckily SK's photo album allows me to put up to 26 pictures, just enough for all my loots.
