Fattening supper but never fatten them

My house still has a few tubs of CNY cookies. Since I put on weight in the festive, due to excessive cookies munching T____T, I swear that I can't touch those last few tubs of cookies anymore until I witness a drop at my weighing scale (not sure when this will happen). So, my husband takes over the mission to finish all of them. He has forbidden me to bake before he can finish the CNY goodies.

Mummy no baking, my girls were fed with Pasar Malam or Kopitiam food as their bedtime snacks after tuitions.

We bought them Roti Canai, Chee Cheong Fun, Char Koey Teow, Wan Tan Mee, Wat Tan Hor or Dim Sum.
Last night, the girls finished 1 loh mai kai and 3 fried fish balls. The balance again walloped by their papa.
I dare not took even a single bite of these fattening, oily and high calories food before my bedtime. However, my girls can afford to have it, only if they don't mind to take it every night. My girls go for table tennis training 3 times a week, each time 1.5 hours, and they go for swimming once a week. Needless to say they ride bicycles outside the house on weekends, run here and jump there at school field. I don't think they will easily put on weight with such a busy schedule of activities and sports. Many people told me that it is unhealthy to take supper. If I don't let them take supper, they will be even thinner then what they are now. By the way, they will whine if they don't see supper laying on the dining table before their bedtime.

  1. Hi Yan, I guess most everyone puts on weight CNY. I did! And I sure love wah tan hor. Fortunately we can get it here in Toronto.
My wife eats more than me, but I'm the one who puts on the weight!
Don't worry too much about your weight. You still looking good....
    Have fun.

    1. You can afford to eat because you have healthy lifestyle and constant exercise routine.

      Moderation is the key.

  5. My girl only takes milk as supper, but my boy takes a lot of food. He asks for 2nd dinner, 2 rounds of milk, biscuits and so.

Sometimes I have to restrict him from over eating!

  6. Everyone is so active so can afford sinful food. :)

But of course healthy, homemade food is the best choice. :)

  7. Hi Yan,

I'm always the chubby girl since young and now "thinner" than my husband because he has put on some weight due to our ages...

To me, I think that my boy is more towards the skinny side comparing what I was when I was little and I think your girls too. No worries about their food... I can tell that they are burning a lot of energy from their exercises. Maybe you should let them help your husband to finish the CNY goodies too.

  9. I think because the girls used lots of energy during day time, that's why the body can burn the calories faster.

  10. I love loh mai kai, but never had them for supper before. Only at breakfast. Active children have to eat more. They burn a lot of energy with all the jumping and running.

  11. Hi Yan, children are very energetic and active, so they can afford to eat more. Unlike we adult have to control our diet, not only to maintain the weight but to stay healthy too.

Have a nice day. Enjoy your workout.

  12. Your girls slim like you. Should be inherit your gene. Good mah, can eat but not fat. Some chubby people comment drink water also can made them fat lol.

  13. I thought I am the only one with so many tubs of CNY cookies. I have a few unopened ones! I will definitely not eat them as I am worried of my pants too.

  14. When I was a kid I also behaved like your 2 kids. My maid prepared milo or hot milk and usually a fruit to munch before sleep. I only started feasting on suppers during my secondary days.

  15. Very fattening indeed but guess it's harmless to the princesses as they are slim. Ian has his dad's fat genes, blame it on the genes hahaha, and our resolution for this year is to eat healthy. In an effort to cut down on meat intake, my boy simply loves meat, he will have a mug of fruit smoothie, sometimes I add in herbs leaves and vege for supper at 9am and he is loving it..

  16. I am very sure they will outgrow this supper habit when they get older. Now their craving is there, must be due to the bodies' natural needs. Like babies, they will simply cry when it is feeding time! Oh, why am I talking like an expert?? Wakakaka!

  17. When I was born, I was a very fat baby. Before I was at my teens I was always sickly and was thinner than Pink Panther no matter how much I ate. I recalled my father playing with my ribs like guitar!

Now I am battling with myself from not getting fat. Silly me!

    1. Barb, they take dinner at 7pm, they sleep at 11pm, so they will take supper at 10pm.

  19. the girls are still at their growing up stage. It is good to let them eat instead of restricting them. My kids also must have supper before bedtime.

  20. I think everyone get 'up' in scale during festive... your girls still can afford those supper since they so active.. for me nowadays, I try not to have any intake of food by 8pm!!

  21. Hi Yan!
I am feeling guilty reading your post! LOL! Been meaning to go for evening jog, but the weather is so blazing hot that I can feel the burning heat on my skin! So plans abandoned! kakaka! I have a treadmill in my house, but hate to use that!

  25. Haha..yes give the fats to your hubs and your princesses. :p Gwen is skinny too..she can't finish 1 loh Mai Kai by herself coz she is a small eater.

  26. The lor mai kai looks yummy.

  27. The lor mai kai is making me drool! Your girls can afford to eat heavy supper cos they are very active in sports. My Chloe doesn't ask for supper cos we take our dinner at 7pm (she will finish at almost 8pm) and by 9pm, it's bedtime already.

  28. your girls are growing up so they need more food and can disgest them faster than us
