His Father's Day gift

I wanted to buy him a smart phone. Stingy husband turned down my good intention. He said that he is comfortable with his old Nokia which costs only RM400. He doesn't always take picture and video, he doesn't know how to play Candy Crush, he doesn't like to WhatsApp and WeChat, he has lost his password to his FB account ....So there is indeed no point for him to own a smart phone. He wants a phone merely to receive calls and to make calls. Therefore, his current phone is good enough to serve him for these two purposes. Period.

When we visited a bicycle shop, he talked to the shop owner for more than 2 hours, and then he took home two foldable bicycles. One is for himself, one is to share between April and me. These two bicycles, the gadgets and the accessories are easily cost more than 2 newest smart phones in the market . He never sweat when paying for these. On the other hand, how I wish the money was actually spent on getting me a LV handbag. blergh!

Anyway, that is my husband. He just loves sports and fitness more than anything else. He is definitely not one of those people as described in this quote below.

The girls created him Father's Day cards. They also chipped in money to buy him a NIKE wrist band.

We went to Port Weld for seafood dinner with in-laws family.
I don't think he mind that I didn't buy him anything. He will only mind if I don't go cycling with him. I am looking forwards to more night cycling with my White Knight. Now , it is depended on when the haze will go away.

Cocoa as the ingredient

I  certainly didn't know how to describe my recent condition. I was busy at work and also busy at home too. I had a certain level of pressure until I lost some sleep. I could easily fall in sleep because of too exhaustion , but I woke up way earlier than the set time. So, I everyday also tired.

No matter how tired I was, I love baking. When I bake, my girls can have my cupcakes as their supper, breakfast and snack. Some I bring to work for my colleagues.

Thank Goodness, cupcakes that I baked under tension mind were having very good reviews from colleagues and my daughters.

The following are two very simple butter cake recipes that I baked last two weeks.

Chocolate Chips Cupcakes

100g Butter
80g Sugar
2 eggs
120g self raising flour
20g cocoa powder
50g chocolate chips
60g milk
Adequate chocolate chips to sprinkle on top of the batter.

1. Cream the butter and sugar until well combined. Adding 1 egg at a time and make sure they are well-blended in each addition.
2. Add the flour into the mixture, mix well.
3. Gradually add in the milk.
4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
5. Pour the batter into the cupcake cases, about 80% full, bake in a preheated oven of 150C  for about 25mins. (This is depended on  individual oven)
Chocolate and Orange Marble Squares
(adapted from "brownies & bars" by Liz Franklin)

Makes 11 squares cupcakes
Preparation time : 1 hour and 10 minutes.
250 gm / 9 oz butter
250 gm / 9 oz sugar (I use 200 gm)
4 eggs, beaten
250 gm / 9 oz self-raising flour, sifted
juice and zest of 1 orange
3 tbsps cocoa powder
1 tbsps orange nectar (I use Sunquick brand)

Preheat the oven to 160C.

Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, a little at a time, stirring in between each addition, until the mixture is smooth and all the eggs are incorporated. Stir in the flour. Add the orange juice and zest. Spoon half of the mixture in dollops randomly over the base of the prepared cake tin.

Add the cocoa powder to the remaining mixture and stir until fully incorporated. Spoon the mixture in between the dollops of the orange mixture. Drag a wooden spoon handle lightly through the mixtures to create a slight swirl effect.

Bake for 30minutes or so, until golden and springy.

Pop Yeh Yeh night

I was in Putrajaya, KL with famly on 30 May till 2 June. We were there for my husband's company  Sport Carnival . This time, the organizer encouraged spouses to take part in the event. I left with no option, but to join netball and badminton games. This was my first time playing netball in my entire life, and I have forgotten how to hold a badminton racket.

Never mind, forget about the games. My girls were more excited at the Pop Yeh Yeh theme dinner.  I was initially very reluctant to dress them and myself up for the theme, because I knew the organizer (KL headquarter) sure knew better what to wear than any other branches. We sure had no chance to win.

On second thought, we might as well have fun and dress for the theme, than bored ourselves to max throughout the night.

I discussed with Yvonne in the office.  I have to thank her for borrowing me some accessories to mix and match with my girls' outfits.
May was wearing her last year concert dance costume. I found it very colourful though it wasn't really the 60's fashion of Pop Yeh Yeh.

I got April a purple sunglasses from Alamanda Shopping Mall on the day before the dinner.  Meaning, I only invested RM9 for the Pop Yeh Yeh theme. Polkadot is the trend of 60s fashion.

As for myself, little black dress with yellow round earrings, yellow beads necklace, gold belt, turquoise bangles , turquoise leggings.

Aiyoyo, I should have styled my hair by combing all up and tying it with a red scarf.  My hair style was way to simple for the Pop Yeh Yeh night.

We registered ourselves at the front desk, but only April appeared to have more confident to win.  I kept reminding her to prepare for the lost. I didn't want her to get too disappointed, just in case she didn't win.

The dinner was officially started when the live band and singers got up on to  stage to perform all "60an lagu-lagu pop".

The most anticipating program, children category best dress for Pop Yeh Yeh theme. April was the number 3 winner. She was so happy.
The adult category best dress winners.  I would say adult category winners were much better than children category winners. As expected, Yan and May lose in contest. T___T

April got RM150 AEON vouchers. She later spent all on Papa's checker shirt RM70 from Camel,  Mam's pajamas RM30 , May's shirt and pants RM 25 and also her own shirt and pants RM 25.
Though our family didn't contribute any medal , Perak branch still emerged as the overall champion in year 2013 Sport Carnival. Bravo!.

During this 4D3N stay at Hotel Residence Uniten, I didn't travel out of Putrajaya. I only went shopping at Alamanda once.

Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the sport carnival, the Pop Yeh Yeh dinner, travel around Putrajaya and our stay in the Hotel Residence to its fullest.

Best friend forever

In case you are wondering why I suddenly MIA from blog sphere, I am busy at work. Too busy until I couldn't get active in blogging. Sorry for not being able to leave my comments in your posts. I will try to catch up on weekends.

There were so many things happened in the past few weeks, and I have so many things to share. I have so little time. When I get online, I don't know whether I should read news, read FB, read blogs or read emails.

Basically, I engage with work in the day and engage with my fitness routine in the evening. Next week, school reopens, I foresee that I will be busier.

My besties Sasa was back in last May. Su In (my another besties from Penang ) decided that we should meet up before Sasa went back to US again.

We met for lunch at Tao (Japanese Buffet Restaurant) Auto City at Juru.
We knew each other from my previous company in Penang. They were my ex colleagues. We click to each other and become best friend since then. If you are following my blog long enough, you should have heard me talking about them many times.
First time, I met Sasa's hubby, Alan. He is such a friendly and nice guy.
Yours truly with the forever young and sweet Su In and her son, Jefferson.
My two princesses with Jefferson.

Su In, Sasa and me don't meet each other often, but when we meet, we truly love each other, motivate each other, encourage each other, enhance and make each other happy.
We know each other for more than 15 years, we never jealous of each other, at least I never feel a single bit of envious ever exist in us.

A BFF quote: "
Remember, you don’t need a certain number of friends, just a number of friends you can be certain of."
Su In and Sasa are the two I can be very certain of.
