Another run in 2017

I never thought of having another run after my run that I mentioned here until I saw the Taiping Prestavest Memorial Park charity run registration form that shared on FB. The run was on 5 November, and I believe this could be my last run in 2017.

Though this run was in Taiping, I have never been to run at the actual trail before. It was kind of excited for me to run on the totally unfamiliar trail. As usual, I didn't sleep that good on the night prior to my run. My breakfast before leaving home was bananas and oatmeal. The organizer had set up plenty of food for our breakfast, we were served with nasi lemak, fried noodles, bananas, guavas, isotonic, Milo, and sandwiches. I  took a sandwich and again a banana. Then I went for a slow jog to warm myself up. As it was raining heavily the evening before, so the air was very cooling and clean in the morning.  The weather was beautiful.

There were 4KM fun run and 8 KM race by running two rounds on the same route of 4KM. This picture was taken by the helper after my first 4KM, and I was told that I was leading in women veteran group.

I completed my 8KM in 38 minutes that showed in my Mi Fit app. I bagged myself the 1st prize, a big trophy, RM300 cash, the great satisfaction, and happy memories.

He is the men senior veteran category champion. He is also the men veteran category champion in KOBL 10KM 2017 and Perak Koperasi Run 2017. Whenever I met him, I would seek his pieces of advice on training. He never failed to enlighten me.

My first run was in KOBL 2015, I didn't join any run in 2016. This year, I have totally joined 5 runs this year. My results were 3 champions, 1 first runner-up, and 1 second runner-up.

I still run 8.5km 4 times a week now. My next year plan is joining 3 running events.

My big big girl....

The daughter of April's nanny's sent me pictures of April through FB messager.  The pictures were taken when April was only 1 year old at the birthday celebration of the nanny's husband.
Whereas, the below pictures were taken last month during our stay at Ixora Hotel, Prai on our Merdeka day. My precious baby girl was grown up. She is now a big big girl and very much into KPop.
She is doing great in her study in Primary 1. She is training hard in table tennis too. She loves her dad very much and sometimes makes me jealous because of not loving me as much as she loves her dad.
No wonder, some say daughter must be father's lover from his past life.

My kind of breakfast

When I was given a chance to have buffet breakfast, I would sure get myself a plate of fruit and vegetable salad, two half boiled eggs, a bowl of oats with nuts and raisins and two glasses of milk. Bread and scones are optional if my stomach still has space to expand.

My first-day breakfast from Ixora Hotel, Prai.

My second-day breakfast from Ixora Hotel, Prai.

These were how I ate my breakfast, I was at Ixora Hotel, Prai during our the last Merdeka holiday. When I took heavy breakfast like this, I would eat very light at lunch and skip dinner entirely.

It is said that the best way to live is to breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper. This is proven the best of losing weight.

I need to improve my run

April, May and I signed up for Larian Koperasi Perak 2017 that held on 10 September 2017 in my town. April was in secondary school 5KM category, May was in primary school 3.5KM and I was in women veteran 7KM category.

Honestly, I told my beloved family that I was going to bag myself a champion, but too bad that I could only make it for 2nd place this time. Yes, I was kinda disappointed at myself.

As for my two daughters,  May was at position 12th,  April was at position 23rd in their own category. Not a bad result, I reckon.

Let me tell more about my run, I was leading just a minute I started off.  After running about 3KM, two people ran close behind me. Just one glance, I saw a lady and a man ran neck to neck. The lady wanted to overtake me, and she could easily do it that time. However, the man who ran next to her did the side coaching by instructing her to stay behind me and keep the pace. I heard their conversation clearly, as he didn't speak just once, but a few times to remind her to keep following my pace. I tried to ignore them, but to be honest, they affected my running performance.

Just 1.5 KM to finishing line, the man instructed her to speed up and overtake me. It was my weakness that I had run out of fuel, and I couldn't pace up at last and thus lose the run.....T____T.

Apparently, the lady who won the champion and the man who coached her are from the same running group. This running group won the most amount of prizes in this event. I got to know this from the paper on the next day.

It is a good lesson and experience for me. I take it positively that there was someone who wanted to win badly by having side coached by the group member throughout the run, and I completed my run all on my own proudly.

I have got a prize money of RM100. Minus our registration fees (April RM20, May RM10 and myself  RM30), I still had RM40 to spend on the dinner as in the picture below. lol!

Since I couldn't bag the champion this time, I know I can't stay running my comfortable pace anymore, I must improve my running techniques in my future training. I hope I can do better in my next run.

p/s: To anyone who read this post, please share with me whether it is right to have side coaching loud and clear during a race. I always run alone in the gym and I take part in not more than 5 running events.

Hatyai and Danok 3D2N trip

15:22 Yannie 8 Comments

On 4 - 6 August 2017, I went for a 3D2N trip with my 11 zumba buddies to Hatyai and Danok. First time, I went with a group of girl friends without my spouse and children. I was very much anticipating the trip. I applied and got my leave approved two months before the date. I packed my travel outfits 2 weeks before the the trip. I was so excited like a child looking forwards to her first field trip with her classmates. lol!

However, I was so busy at work on the last few days before the trip. I worked from home until 1 am for 3 continuous nights. Luckily I got all the urgent issues settled on the night prior to the date. Therefore, I was able to keep a good spirits for the entire trip.

The pictures below will be able to tell the story of how enjoyable and happy that I was in the trip.

A few hours after the journey was started, when our transport stopped at the rest place.

Posing for the album at the hotel lobby.

We visited the Khlong Hae floating market.

Stainless Steel temple is the only one attraction that we went in Hatyai.

Second day, we left Hatyai and went to stayed at Danok, and we visited the Asian Cultural Village.

These were the twelve of us and we ate together at the meal time during the trip. The food pictures below can do the talking of how delicious the food in Hatyai.

Other than having dim sum, chicken rice, we had mangoes kelabu, Tom Yam kung, grilled trotter, petai, omelette, green curry, tofu, and seafood. The Thai food at Hatyai is irresistible good.

Other than sight seeing and feasting on Thai food, we ladies did a great shopping too. This trip was a bit too short and we did not have time for the Thai massage.
Upon returning from the trip, these were some of my members with their shopping loots. Everyone shopped until dropped.

I went with one small black hand carry bag, and I brought back home another 3 bags, 1 basket and 1 box of Thai goodies, snacks and instant noodles.

I bought a Captain America T shirt for my husband, ADDA sandals for April and May, banana bread from 7 Eleven, Bento snacks, Snail White body lotions, Milk Plus salt scrub and lotions, Thailand junkfood and a few items were not in the pictures.

Frankly I still don't get enough shopping of the things that I like. I want to go to Hatyai again, because I enjoy the shopping and the food there a lot.

Some excitement in stressful workplace

Today let me share with you some excitement that had actually brightened up our stressful workplace.

Last month, 5 local celebrities visited us during our work day. You hear it right! They came to our company to meet us. These five celebrities were Venice Min (model), Danny Koo (Singer), Geraldine Gan (Singer), Shawn Lee (Rapper), and Dianna Danielle (Artist). They are actually represented Toyota Gazoo Racing team, and our company is the sponsor for the event.

It was not every day that we could meet celebrities, and especially we were given chance to have fun and take photographs with them.
Of course, I put down the job for a short while and went selfie with the very beautiful Venice Min.

And also, the very cute and sweet looking Geraldine Gan. Loves her songs very much.

Not forgetting to take a group picture with the other celebrities in front of their racing car, sincce I didn't have the time and chance to take solo picture with each of them.

Two days ago, there were two racing cars parked in front of the company lobby. I went quickly to post with these racing cars before the others had done with their lunch.
This is yours truly in uniform and safety boots. I had a quick lunch that day. While I went to the pantry to make a cup of coffee to boost up my energy for the second half day to go. and I saw it. Since not many knowing the existence of these two handsome and sporty racing cars, I took the chance to pose with it.

The Toyota 86 is a series of 2+2 seater sports cars which was jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru and solely manufactured by Subaru. These two handsome and sporty cars must have two good racers to drift them.
Thursday, World Drift 3 times Champion, Masato Kawabata D1 Grand Prix and Drift Muscle 2 times Champion, Hideyuki Fujino from Japan visited us again to exhibit drift shows inside our company. Fuyoh! It was an eye opening experience for all of us. I tell ya! It was actually my first experience watching drifting live. It was very exciting! Luckily I went to join the fun despite my busy schedule.
I managed to squeeze in the crowd and took a selfie with Fujino.

This is Kawabata, he attracted so many ladies to be his fans with his friendly smiles after the visit. Including yours truly. Muahahah!

Folks, if you are interested in the live drifting and racing shows by these two drifting champions and meeting the other TGR celebrities. Please do not forget to go to Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival at Stadium Batu Kawan, Penang this weekend. Free entry for all. Besides, Toyota is launching the C-HR at the event.

Sweet dessert soup again (糖水)

15:31 Yannie 8 Comments

I am a dessert person. Whenever I go for the buffet, the first thing I check it must the dessert corner. I have sweet tooth.

I cook dessert for myself almost every weekend too. When I checked the pictures in the dessert folder, I still have some more never been posted here.
Last year, April requested me to cook a few types of glutinous rice balls when she saw a few cute recipes in FB during the winter solstice festival.  This one was white and green color rice balls with mangoes in HL milk. It can be served cold and warm. It tastes good by adding a little bit sugar or condensed milk in it. This picture got me many "LIKE" when I posted on my FB wall.

These are pumpkin glutinous rice balls in homemade soy milk, which I bought from the hawker in the night market. I personally find this one tasted better than the one in HL milk.

These were glutinous rice balls in red bean soup. I have cooked this before. I previously blogged about this dessert here too.

The ingredients of this dessert are pumpkin, white fungus, red dates, hard boiled eggs and rock sugar.
I just love pumpkin a lot.

This dessert has ingredients of dried longan, red dates, white fungus, and ”桃胶“ (I can't find the English term of this brown color fruit/plant that grows on trees).

I cook dessert often, as it is not cheap to buy outside and the taste is always too sweet for my liking.

My first night run

12:57 Yannie 9 Comments

As I mentioned in my earlier entry here that I went for a night run, the first run at night for myself, April and my town.

It was my working day and I worked from 8am to 5:30pm that day. I thought that I usually run in the evening, it was not a matter at all whether I work. I was wrong. My body was kind of tired that evening. It was also a rainy evening. It started to rain at 3:30pm, and the rain did not even stop a single bit when the race was flagged off at 9:15pm. Well, I just had to run regardless the weather.

It was a tough run for me. A runner from Ipoh led the run in my category. I was far behind her. Another runner also from Ipoh, overtook me half way through. I couldn't pace any faster at all, and I could only keep my own steady speed and running non-stop to complete the race.

So I was at the 3rd placing in women overall and also women veteran 8KM category.
Glory moment

With the 4th placing runner in the same category. We both are also Zumba buddies.

With April before and after the run. She was at 10th placing Women Open 4KM.

With my darlings.
Till then, I have yet to sign up any run. I want a break for all the races. Don't get me wrong, I will still run every day on the treadmill in the gym, at the park outdoor, and also up and down the hill.

Astro CGM 2016 Final

10:15 Yannie 6 Comments

Another throwback post of watching Astro Classic Golden Melody 2016 Final at Stadium Negara on 17 December 2016. It was an awesome experience and I must blog about it.

I and my girls are a die hard fans of Astro CGM. We followed and watched every series of Astro CGM every year. Last year, Astro CGM was given away the final competition free tickets to the fans through FB.  I requested immediately and I got 4 free tickets right away.

When the date was here, April could not go with us, because she already registered herself to a Buddhist camping with friends.

I was so happy that my husband took leave and went with us to the show. He was actually not a fan of the program at all. We took ETS train from Taiping to KL. It was our first ETS ride.

My husband booked the Olympic Sports Hotel which was located just opposite Stadium Negara. The location of the hotel was too good for us to avoid of all the traffics madness. We just walked to watch the concert.
We walked to Stadium Negara as early as 4:30pm to collect the free tickets from the booth, and we managed to take a few pictures at the backdrop of the ten finalists.
Both, I and  May were really thrilled to watch our favorite programs that we always watch on TV, and now watching live from the big stage.
It was really great to watch Gan Jiang Han partnered with an actor from Singapore as the emcees of the show. You will be surprised that if I tell you that I like the only contestant from Singapore the most.  He was the first runner- up at the end.

It was a very fantastic show. It was actually our first experience watching a grand competition live. I do hope that we will have the same opportunity to watch this type of live show again in future.
